Evening rolling closures announced on Rt. 422 for Shearer Bridge project

Construction DME

PennDOT has announced rolling closures for Oct. 6 and Oct. 14 on Route 422 West, and for Oct. 19 on Route 422 East, related to work on the Shearer Bridge in Butler and Summit townships.

Rolling closures will occur from 7 to 9 p.m. in 15-minute intervals.

For Route 422 West, the rolling closures will be at the Route 422 West on-ramp from the interchange with Routes 38 and 68. A crash truck will be stopping all traffic to initiate the closures approximately 1.5 miles prior to the Mitchell Hill Road on-ramp.

For the Route 422 East rolling closure, a crash truck will be stopping all traffic to initiate the closure approximately one mile before the Route 8 interchange. Alternative dates for construction are scheduled the following day if construction is not completed.

Mekis Construction, of Fenelton, is estimated to complete the $6.2 million bridge rehabilitation project in December 2026
