Zella Ballinger
Zella May Ballinger, 93, of Butler, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh.
She was born March 11, 1933, in Dora, Mo., the daughter of the late Simeon Franklin Ballinger and Ina (Tilman) Ballinger.
Zella was a member of North Main Street Church of God and a faithful attendee of Keenagers 60 Plus. Zella graduated from Gordon Bible School, Gordon, Neb. She interned as a Sunday school teacher and helped start a Bible class for unchurched children, along with her sister, Wilma, which led to the creation of His Kids. She continued teaching in a one-room schoolhouse. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at Gordon Memorial Hospital for 52 years. Her life serves as a beautiful testimony of her love for the Lord and her family and friends.
Surviving are her son, Shawn Ballinger, of Butler; her sister, Wilma Ballinger, of Gordon, Neb.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her two grandchildren, Cody and Cade.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
BALLINGER — A memorial service for Zella May Ballinger, who died Thursday, May 21, 2026, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 8, at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Extension, Butler, with Pastor Brandon Lenhart officiating.
