Frank Harrison Mong, 76, of Butler, formerly of Karns City, a retired Chicora area general contractor, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family at UPMC Passavant late Monday evening, May 25, 2026.

Frank was born in Grove City on May 22, 1950. He was the son of the late Leroy W. and Lois Graham Mong.

He was a 1969 graduate of Grove City High School and attended Grove City College on a basketball scholarship. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler. Frank was a longtime member of the Chicora Moose Lodge.

He was a skilled carpenter and had been employed by M.J. “Toby” Fennell Contracting in Chicora for 20 years. Frank purchased the business in 1993 and operated it until his retirement in 2009. He was well-trusted and highly respected among his customers for many years.

Frank was an avid hunter and enjoyed visiting Toby’s camp in Marienville and his brother-in-law’s camp in Tionesta. He looked forward to spending winters with his wife at Surfside Beach, S.C. Frank most especially enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandson.

Surviving is his wife, Joyce E. Faulconbridge Mong, whom he married at Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City on June 3, 1972. Also surviving is a son, Darin G. Mong, of Karns City. He was affectionately “Pap” to his grandson, Trevor, whom he adored. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and their spouses; and his brothers-in-law, Ken Faulconbridge, of Hermitage, and Don Faulconbridge, of Grove City.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Mong, who passed away Nov. 10, 2025; three brothers and three sisters-in-law.

MONG — Friends of Frank Harrison Mong, who died Monday, May 25, 2026, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at First United Methodist Church, 1802 N. Main St. Extension, Butler. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. David Janz, senior church pastor, officiating. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chicora Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Chicora, PA 16025.
