Beaver County man charged in gun scare

A Brackenridge man is accused of pulling handgun to show his “new toy” in a Buffalo Township gas station and convenience store.

Township police charged William J. Miller, 63, with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct following the Saturday, April 4, incident in which officers responded to a panic alarm at GetGo.

Miller, a frequent customer, was in the checkout line with other customers waiting to pay for merchandise when he told a clerk and another employee he wanted to show them his new toy, according to police.

He then pulled a loaded black handgun from a waistband holster after being told he was not permitted to, held up the gun and unloaded it, causing the other customers and the two employees to back up, according to an affidavit.

Miller’s preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 12 at District Judge Jack Ripper’s office.
