Winfield Township meat distributor accused of assaulting woman

A Winfield Township meat distributor is accused of assaulting a woman after an argument in charges filed Monday, April 6.

Daniel Keith McKruit, 66, of McKruit’s Meats, was charged by state police with misdemeanor simple assault following an incident Monday.

Police said they responded to McKruit’s Meats for reports of an assault. A woman told police she went there to discuss an improper check amount.

McKruit told the Butler Eagle the woman was his wife, and the two are in the process of getting a divorce.

Police said an argument ensued over the correct check amount, and the woman attempted to take the check and leave. The woman reported McKruit then grabbed her arm, attempted to take the check from her hand, grabbed her hair and pushed her to the ground.

The woman reported soreness to her neck and shoulder area after the alleged incident.

Police later took McKruit back to his shop and released him.

McKruit’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. April 21 before District Judge Jack Ripper.
