Police: 2 dead in Jackson Township, 1 in Illinois following murder-suicide

Police found two women dead at a Jackson Township home and a man dead at an Illinois address in an apparent murder-suicide following a phone call from the man on Wednesday morning, March 4, according to a news release.

The man, who is yet to be identified, called the Hillside Police Department in Illinois Wednesday, saying two people were dead at a Zelienople (later found to be Jackson Township) residence.

Police would later find two women dead of apparent gunshot wounds at a home on Dior Drive in Jackson Township on Wednesday morning, March 4.

The deaths are believed to be connected to the man in Illinois who, according to Pennsylvania State Police, reported the two deaths to local police there before taking his own life.

Jackson Township Police responded to the incident, but the investigation has since been turned over to the state police.

Following a call from the man in Illinois, police said they found that the male had sustained what was described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Based on information recovered at the scene, the Hillside Police Department contacted the Jackson Township Police Department to ask for a welfare check at the male’s listed home address at Dior Drive.

According to a news release from Jackson Township police chief Zeke Reed, the police were dispatched to the residence, located in the Jackson Ridge neighborhood, just prior to 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, Jackson Township officers forced their way into the residence and discovered the bodies of the two women. According to the news release, the two women are “believed to be” related to the man in Illinois who initially reported their deaths.

None of the three deceased individuals have been publicly identified, and next of kin have yet to be notified.

In separate news releases, both state police and Jackson Township police say there is believed to be no threat to the public as of Wednesday afternoon.

“At no time was there, nor is there currently, a threat to the community at large,” Reed wrote.
