PIHL hockey roundup: Butler, Seneca Valley, Knoch off to fast starts after latest wins
Butler ice hockey improved to 5-1 with Monday’s 5-1 win over Plum, getting a pair of goals from Greyson Steadman to erase a 2-1 first-period deficit.
Corbin Holt was solid in net, stopping 27 of 29 shots he faced.
Butler has won five straight, including one in overtime, to sit in fourth in Class A Gold and has eight goals from Steadman.
Seneca Valley 9, Fox Chapel 1 — Braden Morin scored three goals, and Cooper Hoehn added two more in Monday’s rout.
Morin added two assists, and Jacob Gilbert finished with a goal and two assists. Chris Nichols faced just nine shots in net.
The Raiders are 7-0 atop Class AAA, only once forced into overtime. Morin has seven goals and seven assists so far.
Knoch 4, McDowell 1 — Brady Linamen scored twice, and Tyson Voloch chipped in a goal and assist in Monday’s victory.
Goalie Brady Helsel stopped 10 of 11 shots.
The Knights lead the D2 Gold division at 6-3. Linamen is tied with Synjun Mchattie with 15 points.
