Ohio men charged with stealing from Butler sporting goods store

Three individuals were arrested and charged Monday, Oct. 6, in connection with an alleged attempt to steal from the Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Butler.

Lawrence Anderson, 20, Darnell Coffer, 18, and Dwayne Howard, 18, all of Youngstown, Ohio, have been charged with one count each of felony retail theft, criminal conspiracy and destroying an inventory control tag and misdemeanor corruption of minors. According to a news release from the Butler Township Police Department, the group also included two unidentified juveniles.

The incident took place at about 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The group is accused of attempting to take 12 items of clothing totaling $1,485.

All three are being held in the Butler County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m. in front of District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
