A 91-year-old woman died after becoming trapped under a vehicle outside of the Cranberry Township post office on Friday morning, Aug. 15.

The woman, identified as Patricia Mandell, became trapped under her own car, according to Chief Deputy Coroner of Butler County John Hanovick.

He said it appears the woman failed to put the car in park.

The incident was reported shortly before 10 a.m. Friday along Executive Drive. According to Hanovick, police and medical crews were on the scene immediately, and the woman was transported to UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Despite this, Hanovick said the woman had died upon her arrival to the hospital.

“It was noticed straight away,” Hanovick said. “The police officer was at a Costco across the street and was there within a minute.”

An autopsy is planned for Saturday.
