Man charged with fleeing from police

State police charged Zane S. Perry, 33, of Butler, with fleeing from police and summary traffic violations following a Nov. 20 incident in Center Township.

A trooper attempted to pull over a pickup truck after learning that the owner, Perry, was wanted on a warrant and had his license suspended for a driving under the influence violation, according to an affidavit.

The trooper followed the truck to Holyoke Road, but the truck accelerated before the trooper activated his emergency lights. The truck turned on to Sunflower Road and continued to accelerate as the trooper activated his lights, according to an affidavit.

The truck continued to flee, turned on to Fairlawn Drive, then on to Springhouse Drive, failed to stop at a stop sign, but stopped at the Holyoke Road intersection where Perry fled on foot, police said.

He ran toward Sunset Drive where he was taken into custody, police said.
