Grace Cheeseman

Cheeseman

Grace Devona (Shidemantle) Cheeseman, 105, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at her home in Portersville, Pa.

Grace was born on July 20, 1919, to Susan (Bauder) and Blane Shidemantle in Portersville.

Grace was born eighth of 12 children. She graduated from Muddy Creek High School in 1938 and attended New Castle Business College. She went on to marry the love of her life, George Cheeseman, in 1943. During their marriage they had two sons, Robert “Bob” and George “Victor” Cheeseman.

Grace was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others. From a young age, she prioritized her faith as an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville. She loved her family deeply, with her greatest achievement in life being her marriage to her beloved “Georgie” until his passing in 2012. Her love for others would show through her baking and cooking. Her coconut cream pie was famous in Portersville!

Grace now joins her parents; siblings; her beloved husband, George; her grandson, Greg; and her great-grandson, Zachary, in heaven.

She is survived by her children, Bob (Marsha) Cheeseman and Victor (Betsy) Cheeseman; her grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Richardson, Jennifer Cheeseman, Matt (Andrea) Cheeseman, Daniel (Rebecca) Cheeseman and Jill (Adam) Bruton; and her great-grandchildren, Mason, Nathan, Ella, Jason, Ayla, Kathryn, Madelyn, Victoria, Max, Benjamin and Marian.

Grace will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was loved and admired by all.

In addition to family, we would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Sharon and Marlo, and the staff at Amedisys Home Health Care, who cared for Grace the last few months of her life.
