Moniteau board prepares for 2024-25 school year, terminates teacher

CHERRY TWP — After approving a transportation agreement in March with ABC Transit for next school year, Moniteau School District board directors agreed to spend $21,565 for software services, related training and implementation that would help the district plan bus routes beginning this fall.

This is the first time the district will be using technology from school bus routing company Transfinder, board president Michael Panza said after a workshop meeting Monday, April 8.

“This is a software that will assist us in planning routes, how to pick up kids, all that sort of stuff,” Panza said after the meeting.

Additionally, the board approved bids totaling about $90,407 for custodial cleaning supplies from multiple companies for the 2024-25 school year, including two floor scrubbers.

This is done once a year, Jeff Campbell, director of buildings and grounds, said after the meeting.

Teacher terminated

Board directors approved the termination of Charles Burroway, a communications teacher at Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School, effective immediately. Burroway was suspended without pay at the superintendent’s recommendation in October.

Both Panza and superintendent Aubrie Schnelle declined to comment on Burroway’s termination, stating the district does not comment on issues related to personnel.

Patrick Andrekovich, union representative for the teachers’ association, was not immediately available for comment Monday evening.
