SV student services director selected for national leadership program
JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley School District’s director of student services was selected to be a fellow with the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning Fellows Academy, a national leadership program for local education leaders, as announced at the school board’s Monday meeting.
Cassandra Doggrell was selected to participate in the 10-month-long program that brings together education leaders to “strengthen their expertise in social and emotional learning and advance its implementation in schools and communities,” according to Seneca Valley’s school board.
Doggrell oversees special education, gifted education, school counseling and health services at Seneca Valley.
“This is amazing. It’s one of those things we’ve always talked about for our special education here at Seneca Valley. It’s a great program that has great leadership,” board president Eric DiTullio said.
In other news from Seneca Valley, the school board approved the district’s intent to apply for a School Safety and Mental Health Grant that would total $406,328 if awarded. Funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency, the grant would be used to enhance safety, security, emergency preparedness and student well-being “through targeted investments in physical security, mental health and SEL (social & emotional learning) resources, emergency equipment and staff training,” according to the board.
