Thanks for supporting Roebling workshop

Thank you to the Butler Eagle for past editorials supporting efforts to preserve the historic John Roebling Wire Rope Workshop in Saxonburg for today and future generations.

One suggestion that has been made numerous times is for the Friends of Saxonburg Museum to contact the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau.

The Friends of Saxonburg Museum has received word the bureau's board declined the request for a $10,000 contribution. The Friends organization has always suggested a contribution/donation to help save the wire rope workshop — or any historical structure in Butler County, for that matter — could come from the millions of dollars the bureau receives from the Butler County government through county hotel tax revenue.

The Friends of Saxonburg Museum is not a dues-paying member of the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau and is not a subsidiary of any organizations that are members. The Friends group has received donations from several member-based organizations without needing to become a member or follow member-only policies as the Butler County Tourism& Convention Bureau recommended.

The Friends of Saxonburg Museum thanks the bureau for their consideration and wishes the organization continued success.

We will continue to work with individuals and organizations that want to help preserve the John Roebling Wire Rope Workshop.

J. Fred Caesar III, Friends of Saxonburg president
