Two Mars Area School District students earned awards in the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV’s annual Very Special Arts Exhibit held March 15 to 23 at Grove City College’s Pew Fine Arts Center.

Since 1989, MIU IV’s Very Special Arts has celebrated the abilities of special needs students in kindergarten through grade 12 with an art exhibit held at the college.

Kindergartner Sophia Good was selected for the Gary L. Miller Award for her piece, “Sunflower,” which also was printed on this year’s event T-shirts. Sixth-grader Matthew Konitzky was selected for the Executive Director’s Creativity Award for his drawing, “Two-Point Perspective.”

All art exhibit participants were recognized at a reception on March 23. For more information, visit www.miu4.org/Domain/68.
