Seneca Valley choir director to receive Outstanding Music Educator Award

Chessa Fernandez-Crum, a choir director at Ryan Gloyer Middle School, will be presented with the 2024 Butler County Symphony Association’s Outstanding Music Educator Award in April. Chessa Fernandez-Crum, a choir director at Ryan Gloyer Middle School was awarded the 2024 Butler County Symphony Association’s Outstanding Music Educator Award.

Fernandez-Crum, who has taught music for 12 years and is herself a graduate of Seneca Valley School District, will be recognized by the symphony at an upcoming concert on April 13 at the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

Fernandez-Crum is also the vocal director for both the RGMS Musical and the junior cast of the district’s all-school musical.

The Outstanding Music Educator Award is open to current and former educators in Butler County who taught students in kindergarten through college. Music teachers are nominated by community members and the winner is selected by a committee.
