Don’t forget about Jan. 6, 2021

I was very pleased to see the letter written by Ron Lalonde titled “Jan. 6, 2021: Never again.” It seems very little, if anything, had been written to the editor about the events of that day.

It certainly does seem the majority of people have forgotten just what happened on Jan. 6, 2021: Donald Trump incited his followers to violently try to prevent the peaceful passage of one administration to another.

One should try to remember, starting in 2016, the behavior of this man, starting with his cruel words about Sen. John McCain, his vulgar words in reference to women, his deplorable behavior in the debates with Hillary Clinton — and I could go on and on.

I remember back in 2016 thinking this was not a man who should sit in the sacred space of our White House. And I have grown a little older, my memory has dimmed just a bit, but I distinctly recall — now at the age of nearly 86 — exactly what I thought about this man seven, eight years ago!

Here it is 2024 and once again Donald Trump has crawled out from underneath his rock. Do I write nasty words? No nastier, I think, than some of those of Donald Trump!

Go vote, my friends. And when you do, remember Jan. 6, 2021. Say “Never Again!”

Thank you, Mr. Lalonde, for sharing your wise words.

Carole E. Brodmerkel, Saxonburg
