Rouie ‘Delsie’ Pink
Rouie “Delsie” Pink, 98, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Orchard Manor in Grove City, on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023.
Born in Ivydale, Clay County, W.Va., on Aug. 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Amos and Julia (Kirkhart) Metheney.
On July 4, 1947, she married William (Bill) Pink, who passed away on Dec. 31, 2020.
Delsie was devoted to her family, and worked side by side with her husband in whatever new project they did while building their home or farming. Both were avid fans of baseball and football, but her favorite sport was hockey. One great memory of them is their listening to baseball on the radio while working on the farm and being excited when someone hit a home run.
Delsie enjoyed doing embroidery, raising a garden and canning. She loved being outside, and was disappointed that she didn’t get to drive the tractor much because male relatives would often stop by and take over to “help.” During World War II she worked in a submarine factory.
Survivors include two daughters, Iris (Ray) Niswander of Worthington, Ohio, and Carol (Greg) Snyder of Grove City; daughter-in-law, Patti (Dan) Pink of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren, Stacie (Matt) Sespico, Mandy (Jeff) Corbett, Russell (Tricia) Niswander, Doug (Stacey) Niswander and Shannon (Steve) Bolibruck; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nona Fitch of Coshocton, Ohio, and Halsie Bragg of Newark, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Jean McKee, and her husband, Jeff; twin children, Daniel William and Dianne Delsie Pink; three brothers; and two sisters.
