Sentence court

The following defendants were sentenced Thursday, Sept. 21, in Butler County Common Pleas Court by Judge Kelley Streib.

Jack Nevels Jr., 35, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six month in prison, pay a $1,000 fine and complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance filed by state police following a March 21, 2022, incident in Lancaster Township.

Katie Lynne Elkins, 34, of Beaver Falls, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation including 35 days of house arrest, pay a $1,000 fine and complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance filed by Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police following a Nov. 3, 2022, incident.

Elijah J. Sowerby, 23, of New Castle, was sentenced to serve six months of probation and pay a $25 fine after pleading guilty to an attempted theft from a motor vehicle charge filed by Slippery Rock University police following a May 22, 2022, incident.

Harold Dale Burd, 54, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in prison, pay a $500 fine and complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a DUI charge filed by state police following a Jan. 1 incident in Butler city.

Justin Tyler Milliren, 23, of Butler, was sentenced to serve six months of probation and pay $19.60 in restitution to Butler Beer and Tobacco after pleading guilty to a retail theft charge filed by Butler City police following a March 18 incident.

John Jeffrey Tate, 48, of Evans City, was sentenced to serve 84 months of probation including 18 months of house arrest, pay a $2,500 fine, complete 40 hours of community service and pay $18,095 in restitution after pleading guilty to his third DUI offense filed by state police following a Sept. 8, 2022, incident in Connoquenessing Township.

Shannon Mae Sefton, 26, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 84 months of probation including 12 months of house arrest, pay a $2,500 fine, complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to her third DUI offense filed by state police following a July 4, 2022, incident in Butler city.

Matthew Joseph Thomas, 24, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation after pleading guilty to charges of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft filed by Cranberry Township police following incidents on Nov. 3, 2022, and Nov. 21, 2022.

Brandy Lynn Lane, 36, of Sarver, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months and 15 days in prison, but was immediately paroled after pleading guilty to two separate charges of possession of a controlled substance filed by Butler Township police following a July 1, 2022, incident and county detectives following a July 28, 2022, incident.

Mason Gregory Czech, 24, of Eau Claire, was sentenced to serve 60 months of probation including 105 days of house arrest, pay a $1,500 fine and complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to his second DUI offense filed by state police following a Jan. 1 incident in Summit Township.
