Lenora Double
Lenora “Lee” Ellen Double, 93, of Slippery Rock, was greeted in heaven by her loved ones on Monday evening, Aug. 28, 2023.
She was born June 30, 1930, in Franklin Township, Butler County, to James Cecil Double and Cecyl Ardith Christley Double. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Lovingly known as “Granny” to her family, she was a strong, classy, independent woman who worked hard her entire life. Granny’s hard work began when she grew up on the farm with her family. In the 1950s, she worked at Davey and Hilliards Drugstore in downtown Butler. She then worked more than 30 years as a CNA and physical therapy assistant at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Butler. In 1995, she retired from the medical field, but continued her hard work at Dairy Queen in Slippery Rock with her daughter until she was 80 years old.
She always took great pride in her appearance, and she was still driving at 86 years old to get her hair and nails done weekly. Throughout her life, she enjoyed bingo, casino trips, sweets, cooking (she made the best macaroni salad) and her pets, and she was a talented embroiderer.
Survivors, who will miss her dearly, include her daughter, Beverly E. Kibler, of Slippery Rock; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Dudash, of Slippery Rock; and her pride and joy, a great-grandson, Jenson D. Dudash, of Slippery Rock.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Ruth and Betty Double.
