A free illegible license plate event is set to take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kittanning Township Volunteer Fire Department, 13126 State Route 422 in Kittanning.

During the event, the police will determine if a plate is illegible.

A license plate should be replaced if it has one or more numbers or letters that cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if the plate is blistered, peeling or discolored.
