A drought watch imposed by the state in June has been lifted in 47 counties, including Butler County, but remains in place for the 20 other counties in the state.

Clarion and Venango counties are the only counties in the surrounding area that remain under drought watch. The state Department of Environmental Protection ordered the drought watch on June 15, calling for residents to reduce water use by 5-10%, or 3 to 6 gallons, per day due to a lack of rain.
