LSD, mushrooms, cocaine seized in Butler drug bust

Butler County’s Drug Task Force confiscated LSD, psychedelic mushrooms, cocaine and pounds of marijuana from a home in Butler last week, leading to charges for two people Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Police said the narcotics were in easy access to four children who were in the house when a search warrant was executed on Aug. 9.

Joseph A. Lavrich Jr. and Kally M. Smith, both age 23, were charged with felonies criminal conspiracy, drug sales and misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia following the incidents.

Lavrich was additionally charged with four felonies of drug sales and felony child endangerment, and Smith also was charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment.

Police said drug paraphernalia was found in three rooms of the house.

In one bedroom, police found a crib full of clothing. On top of the clothes was an unlocked plastic case containing THC gummies, psychedelic mushrooms, 39 ecstasy tablets, 2 grams of cocaine, 13 amphetamine pills and 19 dextroamphetamine pills. Police said it was easily accessible to the children.

In addition, officers said a dab press, which is used to create THC pills, and an AR-style pistol with no serial number was found in the attic of the home.

Throughout the house, police seized 2,700 LSD doses; 8 pounds of marijuana; 18 jars of THC wax; 136 THC cartridges; 22 packages of THC edibles; a money counter and drug packaging materials; several boxes of 9 mm ammunition; and $4,728.

During an interview, police said Smith admitted to trafficking marijuana and cocaine to customers for Lavrich.

Smith and Lavrich’s preliminary hearings are scheduled Sept. 11 before District Judge William Fullerton.
