2 charged in theft of electric shopping cart

Two men are being accused of leaving the Cranberry Township Walmart with more than just groceries, according to charges filed March 17.

After hearing witnesses and watching surveillance footage showing an electric shopping cart being stolen, police charged Lonie D. Felentzer, 22, of Trafford, and Lucas N. Payne, 20, of Cranberry Township, with two counts of misdemeanor theft.

Cranberry Township police said employees reported the theft of an Amigo electronic shopping cart around 4 p.m. March 11. Witnesses said two males were seen driving the cart to a red pickup truck and loading it into the back of the vehicle.

The vehicle owner was identified as Payne, who admitted to taking the electronic cart with Felentzer, police said.

According to Walmart, the total value of the cart is $1,300.

Preliminary hearings for both men are scheduled May 12 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
