Philadelphia man burglarizes SR Township cabins, police said

On Monday, state police accused a Philadelphia man of breaking into two Slippery Rock Township cabins and stealing guns, fishing gear, antiques and more.

Duane Fuller, 65, was charged with felonies burglary, criminal trespass and theft as well as misdemeanor theft and summary criminal mischief following an incident in July.

Police said they responded to a call July 17 for a reported theft at a cabin. The homeowner told officers he had been away for two days and had allowed Fuller to park a 1967 Pontiac Tempest on his property.

Upon returning, the homeowner said Fuller and the Pontiac were gone and several items were missing. Those included a crossbow, A Savage 12-gauge shotgun, a .32 Winchester special, a Hawken Flintlock rifle, an old Army rifle, a hatchet, ammo and a jacket.

A neighboring cabin owner also reported a door frame was found broken and several miscellaneous items were missing. Those included a fishing reel, drill, handsaw, alarm clock, a United States of America plate, Revolutionary War lamp, an 8-track stereo and record player, hedge trimmer and more, police said.

On July 18, officers in Warsaw Police Department in the state of Indiana said the Pontiac was found, and Fuller was in custody. Police said the vehicle was discovered to be stolen from Bedford, Pa.

The Hawken Flintlock rifle and jacket from the first residence and all of the items from the second residence were found in the Pontiac, according to police.

As of Monday, a preliminary hearing for Fuller was not scheduled.
