Lucinda Quinlan
On Sept. 5, 2022, Lucinda Ann Quinlan left her human body on Earth to join in the Glory of the Lord.
Lucinda “Cindy” was born in Parker on Jan. 16, 1932, to Ms. Angeline Boyer.
Cindy attended various primary schools in Parker, Bruin and Butler. She graduated from Butler Area High School in the spring of 1950.
After graduating from high school, Cindy worked at the soda bar at G.C. Murphy in downtown Butler. She was always proud to tell others of having served Whitey Ford when he pitched for the Butler Yankees. She also worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory on Brugh Avenue in Butler from 1952-1954.
In the spring of 1954, on a bus from Pittsburgh to Butler, Cindy met the “Love of her Life,” John L. Quinlan. John was returning home to Erie after having served in the Korean conflict for the U.S. Navy. They married in August 1954 and moved to Erie.
The couple returned to Butler in 1958. Cindy began to work for Logan Candy Company, but in 1961, she became a full-time stay-at-home mom.
Cindy was involved in many of her children's school events/activities, including being a member/officer of the PTA (Center Avenue), a Girl Scout leader and a parent chaperone at many events and field trips.
Cindy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church located at the corner of McKean and North streets in Butler. She was involved in and was a member of many groups within the church. Early on, Cindy was a leader of the nursery, watching children as their parents attended church service. She also served as a kitchen worker for dinners during Methodist Youth Fellowship meetings and as a chaperone for many church events and youth field trips.
In her later years, she was involved with First United Methodist Quilters Group, Senior Member’s Group 3M’s, kitchen help during community dinners, and was a member of various First United Methodist senior Sunday school classes.
Cindy is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann (Andre) Bellefuille and Sandra Kim (Kent) Tobias; a son, Ward (Sue) Quinlan; seven grandchildren, Maggi, Bryant, Derek, Kyle, Amber, Sarah and Chantal; and seven great-grandchildren.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Quinlan, who passed away in November 2002; her mother, Angeline; and her live-in aunt, G. Althea Boyer.
Cindy's family would like to extend a special thank you to VNA Hospice and Magnolia Place of Saxonburg.
