Mary Cheriana
Mary Margaret Cheriana, 94, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Aug. 30, 2022, while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born on Oct. 9, 1927, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Richard P. Werner and Helen R. Lang Werner.
Mary was a founding member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township, where she belonged to the Royal Court and volunteered at the church festivals. She was also a member of the Cranberry Township Senior Club.
Mary enjoyed crafting for herself and others. She especially enjoyed cross-stitching. She was an avid gardener and liked to line dance. She was also a talented seamstress. Mary was an adventurer, who loved to travel and explore. Above all, she was a dedicated mom and gram, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Deborah J. Walker of Mount Lebanon, and Mary Beth Holland (Robin) of Evans City; her grandchildren, Melissa Slinde (Micah), Holly Nelson (Chris), Charles Durr (Becky), and Alex W. Binder (Kelli); her great-grandchildren, Nicole Rossi, Joseph Durr, Marissa Harding, Zach Harding, Megan Harding, Noah Slinde, Abigail Nelson, Madison Nelson and Ryan Nelson; her great-great-grandchild, Kaylee Rossi; her son-in-law, Stephen Toon of Dallas, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Cheriana of Coraopolis; her sister-in-law, Barbara Werner of Avalon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Cheriana, who passed away in 1986; her sons, David W. Cheriana and John “Jack” Cheriana; and her brothers, Richard G. Werner, Thomas Weber and Edward L. Werner.
CHERIANA — A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Margaret Cheriana, who died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Divine Grace Parish at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. Friends are asked to please meet at the church.
She will be laid to rest at Mount Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
