Man accused of trespassing on residence, business

A West Sunbury man was arrested after he admitted to entering a woman’s home without permission solely to listen to her shower, according to charging documents.

State police filed charges Monday against Trevor L.E. Tatters, 18, including felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass, as well as misdemeanor prowling.

District Judge Kevin O’Donnell arraigned Tatters on Sunday morning and placed him in Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond.

According to the affidavit, one of the woman’s neighbors saw a man enter her home, and he called to alert her.

“(The woman) was in the shower when she received the phone call,” police said. “She got dressed and exited her home from the front door and ran to the (neighbor’s) house.”

Police said they arrived around 8:05 a.m., found the back door already open, and searched the home.

“When I began to clear the basement steps, I observed a white male in a black hoodie,” said police, who arrested him and identified him as Tatters.

Police said during his arrest, Tatters was drunk and could not elaborate about why he was at the home.

Police said when he was later fingerprinted, Tatters made unsolicited statements that he had seen the woman on Friday and heard her talking on the phone. He said he sat on her back porch and listened to her talk on her phone through the wall.

“Tatters said he wanted to talk to her again,” police said. “Tatters later admitted in an interview to troopers that on (Sunday,) Tatters was sitting on the basement stairs inside (the woman’s) residence listening to (her) shower.”

For this incident, Tatters is scheduled to appear Aug. 9 for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton, but this was not Tatters’ first run-in with police in the last week.

On Friday, Butler Township police filed a single misdemeanor charge of trespassing against Tatters. Police in that case said Diehl Automotive employees found Tatters sleeping in the entryway of the company’s building on Route 8, which is closed to the public for construction.

“The complainant told Tatters to leave three times, giving him ample time to collect his things and depart,” police said. “Tatters did not leave.”

Police said when they arrived, Tatters did leave, but he returned about two hours later and was harassing employees and distracting construction workers.

“I made contact with Tatters who stated all he wanted was to charge his phone,” police said.

For the Butler Township case, Tatters had been released on his own recognizance, and he is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
