Uncle, nephew accused of selling drugs in city

The Butler County Drug Task Force arrested two men after a Monday night drug bust at a home on Fourth Avenue, Butler, which yielded more than three bricks of suspected heroin or fentanyl, among other drugs.

Police said five adults and multiple juveniles were in the residence, and two of the adults were the main target of the investigation.

The home’s resident, Isaiah S. Harden, 44, and his nephew, Jamal D. Harden, 22, of Glassport, were arraigned Tuesday morning by District Judge Lewis Stoughton on three felony counts of drug sales and misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession and marijuana possession. Each is being held at Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Police said they found multiple forms of paraphernalia consistent with drug sales in the home, including six cellphones, two digital scales and unused stamp bags.

Officers also seized 159 stamp bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl, about 2 ounces of suspected crack cocaine and six plastic bags of marijuana.

Police said they also found $1,118, including some marked bills (or prerecorded funds).

“Some of those funds were found in Jamal Harden’s wallet, and some of the pre-recorded funds were found on the person of Isaiah S. Harden,” police said.

Investigators later noted that four teenagers and three infants were in the home at the time of the arrests, but no charges related to child endangerment were immediately filed.

Butler City Police and the Butler Emergency Services Unit assisted with the raid.

The pair are scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 11 before District Judge William Fullerton.
