Malak leads SV to 4-1 playoff win

Seneca Valley’s Nate Malak tossed seven innings of two-hit baseball as the Raiders dispatched Hempfield, 4-1, in the opening round of the WPIAL Class 6A baseball tournament.

Alex Mortier led the way offensively with two knocks, including a two-RBI home run.

Moniteau 7, Redbank Valley 0 — The Warriors claimed a KSAC crown with a win over the Bulldogs. No further details were available.

Softball

In the first round of the WPIAL Class 4A softball tournament, Freeport toppled Central Valley, 8-1, at Mars. Abby DeJidas doubled and Natalie King, Savanna Urik, and Sydney Selker each singled twice.

Sydney Selker pitched all seven innings, allowing one run and punching out nine.

Clarion Limestone 8, Karns City 7 — Rossi McMillen had four hits and scored two runs on the road, but Karns City took its second straight one-run defeat.

Marra Patton homered and Ally Walker had two singles and three RBI in the loss.
