Butler woman arraigned on felony drug charges

A woman was arraigned Wednesday on charges she sold fentanyl to a state police informant in 2019 in Butler.

Tasha E. Lutz, 30, of Butler is charged with delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

District Judge William Fullerton released Lutz on her own recognizance following arraignment. Her preliminary hearing was not immediately scheduled.

The police vice unit filed the case following the investigation that included an $80 controlled drug buy Aug. 28, 2019, authorities said. An informant, used by police, and Lutz agreed to meet at a pre-arranged street corner in Butler where the defendant allegedly sold fentanyl.

Undercover officers watched the suspected deal. The informant later turned over the drugs, which were sent to the state police crime lab in Westmoreland County. Police said analysis determined it was fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.

Online court records did not indicate if Lutz has an attorney.
