BHS: COVID-19 numbers in decline
The Butler Health System has seen another reduction of inpatients at both Butler Memorial and Clarion hospitals.
According to Wednesday's report by BHS, Butler Memorial had 36 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, with nine of those being treated in the intensive care unit.
That is a decrease of six inpatients from Monday's report and one patient less in the intensive care unit. However, Butler Memorial reported three COVID-19-related deaths during the same time.
Clarion Hospital also reported one death since Monday's report, but its 14 hospitalized COVID-19 inpatients is four less than the previous report. Clarion is still treating four COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
At the state level, the recovery rate continues to increase gradually. Wednesday's report by the Department of Health showed an increase to 75%, a 1% bump from the day before.
On Wednesday, the report for Butler County showed the death of nine more residents and the addition of 92 positive test results to its totals.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the county has had 7,428 residents test positive for COVID-19 and 265 residents die from the virus.
The reports also showed a statewide addition of 7,960 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 349 new deaths linked to the virus.
“There are simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones from getting sick with COVID-19,” said Gov. Tom Wolf in a Facebook post Wednesday.
The six steps include wearing a mask, keeping away from crowds, keeping physical distance from others, practicing good health habits, downloading the COVID Alert PA phone app and getting the vaccine when possible.
