The PIAA Board of Directors met Wednesday and decided not to delay the beginning of the high school winter sports season.

The board did approve a proposal to limit only district champions to the state boys and girls basketball tournaments. Only eight wrestlers per weight class statewide will qualify for the PIAA Tournament. All eight qualifiers will medal.

Basketball teams may continue to play regular season games well into March this season.
