Saxonburg woman injured in Middlesex Township accident
MIDDLESEX TWP — A woman apparently got out of her car and lay down on Glade Mill Road on Tuesday morning after the vehicle went up an embankment and rolled back down.
Police said a truck driver stopped and found Marcela Chavez, 22, of Saxonburg, lying on the road next to her car at 8:45 a.m. a short distance from Route 8 on Glade Mill Road, also known as Route 228. She was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Township police Sgt. Randy Davison said Chavez was traveling west on Glade Mill Road and came around a bend at Rolling Mills Road before hitting the embankment. The car struck some trees as it went up the 10- to 12-foot embankment and then rolled back to the road, he said.
“She got out of the car on her own and laid down,” Davison said.
She was talking when officers arrived. Her injuries were not life threatening, he said. The truck driver who stopped to help her was there when police arrived.
The driver lost control of the car for unknown reasons.
“She doesn't know how the accident happened,” Davison said.
Penn Township police and Middlesex Township and Saxonburg volunteer fire departments along with Quality EMS also responded to the accident.
