[naviga:h3]Catholic high school to close[/naviga:h3]
The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh announced this week that Quigley Catholic High School in neighboring Baden in Beaver County will close after the current school year.
Declining enrollment, unsustainable cost projections and insufficient funds to assure long-term viability were the reasons for closing the 53-year-old school, according to a news release from the diocese.
The current projected enrollment at Quigley stands at 93 students, which would not allow for a full academic, extracurricular and athletic experience, according to the release.
Students will be assisted in finding an alternate high school and efforts will be made to find faculty and staff positions in other Catholic high schools.
