Car linked to violent assault found
Authorities in Ohio recovered a car allegedly stolen by an Allegheny County teenager accused of sexually assaulting and choking the owner during a weekend attack involving a knife in Jackson Township.
The 2001 Mercedes-Benz convertible was found Tuesday in Trumbull County. Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer said his department was notified about 10 a.m.
Local police in Trumbull noticed the car without a license plate, Seilhamer said. They ran the vehicle identification number and discovered that the car was listed as stolen in the National Crime Information Center database.
Information about the suspected car thief, Alex Lamont Boyden II, 18, of McKees Rocks, was also included in the NCIC system.
Police allege Boyden and the victim, an 18-year-old McKees Rocks woman, were together Saturday when he drove the car to a dead end road in Jackson Township and cut her hand with a knife.
While still holding the knife, he is accused of walking the woman to a nearby grassy hillside and raping her. The victim also told police that he choked her until she passed out.
He eventually left her there and drove away in her car, police said. The woman got help from a passing motorist on Tollgate School Road, who called 911 about 6 p.m. She later was treated for injuries at a Pittsburgh hospital, and released.
Boyden turned himself in to authorities at 10 p.m. Sunday apparently on the advice of a relative, who knew police were looking for him.
He is facing a number of charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, rape, strangulation, theft and receiving stolen property. He is being held in the Butler County Prison without bail.
Seilhamer said an officer and tow truck operator traveled to Ohio and returned with the car, which is impounded at the police station.
He said police plan to search the car. The state police forensics unit will also process the vehicle for any blood and trace evidence.
