In Brief
[naviga:h3]T-Mobile, Sprint deal unchallenged[/naviga:h3]
The state attorney general’s office said Pennsylvania is one of 12 states that will allow Sprint and T-Mobile’s merger to go unchallenged in exchange for assurances that consumers of both companies will have affordable access to internet and phone service.
Part of these assurances from the New T-Mobile, as the company is called, includes offering for at least five years low- cost plans, including 2GB of high speed data/$15 per month and 5 GB of high speed data/$25 per month.
“This settlement means we are bridging the gap for people who have been on the wrong side of the digital divide and they will finally have access to affordable high-speed internet,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a prepared statement.
Shapiro’s office was one of a dozen that sued to block the merger last year. This deal is a settlement to end that lawsuit.
