Man allegedly broke into vehicle

Gun, other items reportedly taken

An Ohio man is accused of stealing a handgun and other items — totaling more than $3,000 — from a vehicle last year in Muddy Creek Township.

State police have a felony arrest warrant for Richard R. Hollenbaugh, 30, of Masury. District Judge Bill O'Donnell issued the warrant Feb. 12 for felony theft and other charges.

The charges were filed after a woman recently told police that she was with the defendant Aug. 9, 2019, when he allegedly broke into a sport utility vehicle at a home on Bauder Mill Road, according to charging documents.

The woman said she was in a car that Hollenbaugh had driven there. She recounted that she stayed in the car while he got out and smashed a window of the SUV.

He took a Ruger 9 mm pistol and 20 other items from the SUV, according to her account to police. In all, police said, the property was valued at $3,200.

“Hollenbaugh made two trips back and forth from the (SUV) to his vehicle to place items in the trunk,” documents said.

Police said she told them that she honked the horn on the vehicle to get the Hollenbaugh to stop.

“Hollenbaugh ran back to their vehicle and punched her three times in the face,” documents said, “for pressing the horn.”

He is charged with felony theft, misdemeanor theft from a vehicle and summary harassment.

It was not known if Hollenbaugh has an attorney, and he could not be reached for comment.
