Slippery Rock Middle School teacher Stephanie Magnotto and Slippery Rock High School paraprofessional Lori Duffy won this year's Lauretta Woodson Award.
Both Magnotto and Duffy were surprised and honored upon getting word they were being recognized.
“We are so lucky to have students (who) love coming to school and are eager to learn,” said Magnotto. “I am surrounded by teachers (who) inspire me to be my best every day, and it feels nice to be acknowledged for what we do. It is even more special to celebrate all of that hard work with my students.”
Duffy said she repeats the following phrase each day before she comes to work, “Be prompt, prepared, polite, productive and do your best.”
She said she makes an effort to use those words everyday.
“To have that noticed makes me feel valued. I love my job and consider it a blessing to work here,” she said.
