Butler man pleads guilty to burglary in Middlesex
A Butler man pleaded guilty Monday to his role in a burglary last summer at a Middlesex Township home, where he and others stole more than $10,000 in property — including a handgun.
Brandon A. Dolan, 24, pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal conspiracy of burglary. Under a plea deal reached, Dolan will be sentenced in April to one to two years in jail followed by 36 months probation. As part of his sentence, Dolan will need to submit to an inpatient rehabilitation program for the duration of his parole, according to Assistant District Attorney Robert Zanella, who is prosecuting the case.
Dolan's co-defendant, Anthony J. Parrotta, remains in jail for his alleged role in the burglary and his case is ongoing. A third suspect has not been identified.
Middlesex Township police suspect the three men targeted a home on Browns Mill Road on July 6 and stole numerous items.
The loot, township police said, included headphones, Bluetooth speakers, video game equipment and games, guitars, a laptop computer, a large Coke bottle coin bank that contained hundreds of dollars and a .22-caliber revolver.
The family discovered the break-in July 13 after they returning home from a weeklong vacation. In all, the stolen items were valued at $10,216.
The defendants apparently were aware of the vacation plans, according to charging documents, and they knew that the home would be unoccupied.
A few days later, police tracked the two down at Dolan's home. Parrotta was arrested, but Dolan ran away, according to police. He was found later in the day on July 29.
During questioning at the state police barracks, Parrotta admitted to the burglary and implicated Dolan and a third man, documents said. He claimed he did not know the other man's name.
He said they went to the house in the late hours of July 6 following a concert.
Police said Parrotta admitted that he and his accomplices went to the Walmart and cashed in the coins. They allegedly sold some of the other items at other stores.
Two stolen speakers and headphones were recovered from Dolan's house during the search, documents state.
Dolan will be sentenced April 9.
