Butler’s junior varsity hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to Mars in its season opener recently.

Brayden Povlick scored the Golden Tornado goal, assisted by Logan Smith.

Povlick and Brady Bauer scored goals for Butler in a loss to North Allegheny. Butler JV hosts West Allegheny at 9:50 p.m. Monday at the Frozen Pond.

The Butler Middle School team lost to Armstrong, 4-3. Carson Bish had a goal and assist for the Tornado while Owen Denny and Tullio DiDomenico added goals. Mason Huey had a pair of assists.

Butler Middle School tied Fox Chapel 1-1 as Denny scored for the Golden Tornado and goaltender EJ Delaney made 18 saves.

Butler plays at McDowell at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in Erie.
