Police file charges linked to motel party

BUTLER TWP — Criminal charges were filed against two young men Monday in connection with an alleged underage drinking party last month in a room at Super 8 motel.

Butler Township police said they found eight to 10 people — all but one under 21 years of age — in the room of the motel on Route 8 south June 15.

Officers had gone there around 9:45 p.m. to make a well-being check.

Police said they also found a baggie of suspected cocaine and numerous opened beer cans in the room. Aaron M. Michaux, 20, of Jefferson Township allegedly admitted the cocaine was his, according to court documents.

Other drug contraband, including a digital scale, was seized.

Police eventually contacted Hunter P. Snow, 21, of Butler Township, who they said rented the room. He acknowledged he had beer in the room, documents said, but denied allowing those underage to drink it.

Michaux is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Snow is charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

Police also cited Destin W. Spellman, 19, of Center Township, and Hailey Forty, 19, of Saxonburg, for summary underage drinking.

Spellman pleaded guilty Tuesday. District Judge Kevin O'Donnell ordered him to pay $267.25 in fines and court costs.
