The Butler AM Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Butler PM are already partnering to provide transportation for swimming to kids in Butler’s Child Summer Food Service and Activities program. Now, the two civic organizations are looking to extend their helping hands to include swim suits, beach towels, sunscreen and possibly adding another day of swimming.

The Grace Youth and Family Foundation provides meals to kids at Rotary Park, Father Marinaro Park and Institute Hill Playground four days a week and trips every Tuesday to Alameda Park for a swimming day through the program.

The Rotary clubs already share the cost of busing kids from the parks to Alameda Park to go swimming.

“We’re both funding the swim portion of the program,” said Dick Musko of the AM Rotary.

They agreed to team up again to provide the kids with what they need to enjoy their time at the pool.

“We pay the cost for the bus to and from the pool, but then we found out the kids need swim suits, the kids need towels and they need sunscreen. So we decided to fund those needs for the kids,” Musko said.

He said Grace Youth will wash and dry the towels between trips to the pool.

In addition, the clubs are working with Grace Youth and the city to take the kids to the pool two days a week.

“So we’re going to add another day. We’re working on it,” Musko said.

The clubs are also partnering to buy a “Rotary Fun Swim” sign for the bus and Rotary Shelter at Alameda Park, where the kids eat lunch.
