A Butler man who already has nine convictions for driving with a suspended license is again charged with the same offense.

Butler police said they stopped David E. Baker, 53, around 10 p.m. June 24 after they saw him run a stop sign at Upper Shore Street and Virginia Avenue in the city's Island neighborhood.

Baker admitted to police that he did not have a valid driver's license, according to court documents. An officer checked his record and found he was driving with a DUI-suspended license.

A subsequent review of Baker's driving record, police said, found that he has nine previous convictions for driving under suspension-DUI related.

Police charged him Thursday with a third-degree misdemeanor count for his 10th offense,

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5 at the office of District Judge William Fullerton. Online court records did not list an attorney for Baker, and he could not be reached for comment.
