Police said a girl was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after the vehicle she was riding in ran into the front of the E-Z Stop on Main Street.

A girl was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after the car she was riding in hit the E-Z Stop on Main Street.

The unidentified juvenile was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Carol Ball, 81, of Butler. According to police, Ball drove her Honda Fit, a compact SUV, into the storefront of the business about 5:45 p.m.

The girl was able to walk to a waiting ambulance with some assistance. City police said the girl is “OK” and Ball was not cited.

Authorities believe that the woman's foot slipped off a pedal and caused the crash.

Khalid Chatta, owner of the E-Z Stop, said he was across town when his employees called to tell him about the incident. He said city police were already investigating the crash when he arrived.

“She thought she put her foot on the brake,” Chatta said of what police told him. “I'm glad nobody got hurt.”

While the vehicle only sustained minor front-end damage, the impact bowed the storefront's brick wall inward and shattered two glass windows.

Store employees cleaned up the glass. Chatta said he notified his insurance agency. Butler Ambulance Service and city firefighters responded.
