Bids extended for courthouse mold
BUTLER — The bid deadline for replacement of the moldy pipe insulation in the county courthouse basement has been extended by six weeks.
At their meeting last week, the commissioners approved moving the deadline from June 12 to July 24.
John Campbell, the county’s director of facilities and operations, confirmed in March that mold was found on fiberglass pipe insulation.
The moldy insulation was found mainly in the basement of the courthouse, which was unoccupied.
It was discovered when workers began emptying the now-defunct law library. Some remediation occurred at that time, and the remainder of the building was checked for mold.
The insulation will be replaced by mold-resistant cellulose insulation, Campbell said.
