Butler youth wrestler Santino Sloboda, 11, took first place in his division at the PENNWAY Winter Individual State Championships in California, Pa., recently.

Numerous Butler elementary wrestlers placed in their respective weight classes at the year-end WAWA tournaments held last weekend in Monaca.

In the open tournament, Santino Sloboda placed first, Case Chopp, Ryan Miller and Domenic Miller second, Brodie Davis, Sutton Stoner and Leo Iarrapino third, Derrick Eggleton and Ron Szczgiel fourth, Hunter Harrison, Ira Steifel and Gavin Rush fifth, Noah Nelson and Dominic Nelson sixth.

In the novice tournament, Carmelo Cantera, Sullivan Stutz and Diamond Cantera placed first, Jude Perhacs, Brawnson Seibel and Landon Fischer second, Avery Hopper and Nathan Dickey third, Cody Eggleton, Isaiah McPherson, Blakle Schreffler and Nick Savannah fourth.
