Arr! Kids work to find scallywag

Children worked Friday to find who dressed the lion fountain in Zelienople Community Park as a pirate for a life-size game of Clue. Zelienople Area Public Library and Zelienople Community Park collaborated for the event.

ZELIENOPLE — Children in the community came together Friday to solve a mystery involving the park’s iconic lion fountain.

The Zelienople Public Library and Zelienople Community Park collaborated to present a life-size game of Clue.

Laurie Berie, park manager, and Staci Bettencourt, children’s librarian, provided children with snacks while they tried to solve the question of who dressed the lion water fountain as a pirate.

Children played and participated periodically throughout the day, with about 10 to 15 youths working to solve the mystery.

While this was the first event featuring such an activity, the library hosts storytimes with guests at the park every Tuesday. The library will host the Butler County Dairy Court next week.
