8-year-old hurt in fall from tree
An 8-year-old boy needed a helicopter evacuation to a Pittsburgh hospital Tuesday evening after falling out of a tree in Center Township, according to safety officials.
The boy fell shortly before 7:30 p.m., according to Chief Nathan Wulff of Unionville Volunteer Fire Department. An ambulance responded, but upon arriving ambulance personnel determined a helicopter would be a better option for the child.
Wulff said that while the boy’s injuries were serious enough to warrant the emergency response, he didn’t believe the injuries to be life-threatening.
The child was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Wulff said.
Butler Ambulance Service and Stat MedEvac also responded.
