A 46-year-old man who used to live in Evans City pleaded guilty in federal court in Pittsburgh Monday “to a charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor,” according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.

Christopher Robert Woods, possessed digital images of children 12 years old and younger engaging in sexual conduct, according to the news release. Woods pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti.

Woods could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, be ordered to pay a fine of up to $250,000 or some combination of the two. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 16.

The crime Woods admitted to occurred between November 2014 and January 2015.

The case was tried as one of many associated with Project Safe Childhood, a long-running Department of Justice crackdown on child porn and abuse that was launched in 2006. Woods was one of two such guilty pleas entered Monday across the nation, according to the DOJ’s website. The other was a Laurel, Md., man.
